I just bought a AMD phenom II x4 955. I have Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA69GM-S2H (Socket AM2). The mother board says it supports the AMD phenom II X4 955. I've downloaded and install the latest bios F7e and stills runs at 1.6 GHz. I have disable cool and quiet and loaded optimum defaults. However the cpu still runs at 1.6 ghz and the bios isn't allowing me to change the multiplier .

Uhm, AM2 =/= AM3.

That's about like putting a Mustang engine in a Ford Pinto. It's just not going to work right.

Also, that's 800MHz, not 1.6GHz.

However, you could always try disabling Cool-n-Quiet in the BIOS.

I'm not sure where you read that this motherboard supports the 955.. But the 955 is an AM3 cpu, and thats an AM2 board, its backwards compatible, but theres no way you'll be able to get normal performance out of it, even with a bios update. Also, that being a Micro ATX board it might not have the neccesary power to the cpu socket, the 955 is 125w, where the cpus that board lists support for are all 95w or less..

Edit: After looking at those pictures, it shows it running at 800Mhz, which is what your motherboard would downclock it to on idle if coolnquiet is enabled, what does it say in the bios about your frequency?
