I am building a new PC, installing a 256Gb 6Gb/sec SSD boot drive with a Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo, and several assorted WD HDDs for data (1-WD1003FBYX 6Gb/sec, 1-WD2001FASS 3Gb/sec, 2-WD1001FALS 3Gb/sec, 2-WD1501FASS 3Gb/sec). The mobo has a bunch of Intel and Marvell SATA ports - which ports should be used for the SSD boot drive, and which should be used for the other drives, under Windows 7 64-bit? How should the BIOS be set up for these drives? I am NOT using RAID.

Also, one YouTube video advocated installing Windows 7 64-bit with SSD SATA drives in IDE mode, *then* switch to AHCD mode. Is this correct? Should I set up ALL the SATA HDD drives in AHCD mode and at what point in the build?

I also have two Samsung SH-222AB SATA CD/DVD Burners - to which ports should they be attached, and how should they be configured in the BIOS?

Thanks.

Geez, I've been building PCs for a few years, and it gets more complicated every year!
