HEY GUYS I NEED HELP PLS !!!

MOBO : ga-m720-us3
CPU : phenom x2 550 3.1 b.e
CARD : gigabyte gtx460 o.c
RAM : 4gb dominator 1066 (5-5-5-15)
HDD : sata 500gb seagate

HEY GUYS, im getting blue screens (cache dump) every now and agen, its doing ma head in now everything is on stock settings, my nb is a lil hotter iv noticed and my cpu is dropping even tho cool n quiet is off. i know a fair amount about pc's but this 1 gets me guys, iv tried pushing voltage up a notch to try and hold the speed of processor but its still doin it :( . i think cpu is dying in my words but let me know guys wot u think pls ..

any questions let me know

thx guys !

More about guys
  1. Tell us about your PSU; make, age, etc., it may be bad.
  2. also check the bios for hpet mode. make sure its switched on to 32 for 32bit windows and 64 for 64bit if your running win7 or vista.

hpet is the high precision event timer..
  3. How hot is your system getting?

Is it blue screening randomly or under load? If its bluescreening randomly then definitely run memtest for 3-5 passes and see if it turns up any errors, memory errors appear at random times, while a CPU or PSU error would be consistent and repeatable.
  4. I would go with the PSU as well. Its probably dropping voltage. It is rare that a correctly mounted CPU will fail unless the PSU that is feeding it is playing up.
  5. my psu is ezecool 800w bout a year old now, im running 7-64bit. my temps are all low except my nb temp iv seen it on a high res game hit 60c-65c so iv had to drop all my res on games down which is helping. it defo crashes more wen playing games, it crashes wen iv watched a film or even wen iv had music on a couple of hours, its prob down to a crash a day now ! il try out the things u guys are telling me il get onnit asap and il let u know, i need to know! il get back to u asap guys...
  6. ok guys just a couple of things, wen running a stress test with everest, the only voltages that seem to be dropping is the 3.3v rail and the 12v rail but they ent by much..... 3.392 dwn to 3.376v . 12.288 dwn to 12.224v . And they constantly bouncing, other voltages are solid. cud this be anything? another thing iv noticed is my ram timing stock are 5.5.5.15 2.1 v, but for some reason they auto change on boot to 5.6.5.15 2.1v so i pushed voltage up to 2.2v but it stil does that 2 i swear its claw hammer time soon :(. iv got 4x1gb by the way. let me know wot u think guys,,, il run a memtest tonight . thx
  7. Your voltage ranges are within tolerance, but that does not mean the PSU is OK.
Yours only puts out 17 amps on the 12 volt rail and, well, frankly, I would choose a better PSU for my builds.

Run the memtest as suggested and get back to us please.
  8. will do mate !
  9. GB motherboards tend to over-volt if you leave a voltage setting on 'Auto' -- especially if you manually adjust one setting while leaving others on Auto.

Raising the voltage also introduces its own problems -- on my GB AM2+ I under-volted my PhII 550BE, unlocked to a quad, and dropped my load at the wall by 30%+.

Some of the 'new' BIOS updates have also expanded options to control over-volting and vdroop (such as LLC and VDD). It would not be uncommon for these 'engineered' settings to be effecting your electricals --

I'm not familiar with your power supply (and it could be an issue) but you may want to reset and try a few new things before investing in a new one.
  10. yeh iv noticed the auto problem but i havnt changed anything only my ram settings e.g 800 to 1066 and timings to stock 5.5.5.15, but thats all i changed ? whats your stock voltage for your cpu wisecracker? i was almost positive mine was 1.072v now up to 1.3 v on auto. im on another machine at mo mines been running memtest for 3 hours and ten minutes "no errors" yet! i kinda wish there was to be honest i know wot the problem is. :(

Hard to say what a stock vcore is these days, but 1.3v to 1.325v seems about right for the PhII. Trying to run 1.072v at load won't work though it wouldn't surprise me if you ran 1.1875v to 1.2v at load.

I would suggest setting your vcore at -0.0125v, putting a load on the CPU and taking a peek at your volts. I suspect it might be in the 1.3v range.

I'm not sure what the NB stock volts are -- maybe 1.15v? I've never bumped past 1.2v for 2400-2500MHz IMC/NB.

If your memory issues persist try running 800MHz with tightened timings -- DDR2 1066 might be iffy for your IMC.

...now everything is on stock settings...
???I guess this may not have been right.
  13. may i ask are you only getting blue screen cache dumps or crashes or both?
  14. just cache dumps , just finished memtest after 7 hours still no errors, im even suprised it didnt blue screen agen under load, so its not ram then ? wot do i do now? oh and noworldorder it blue screens more on full stock settings, auto on these boards are pants. i dont know wots goin on with it :(
  15. since you thot of your cpu going.why not stress test it?
And i think you could scan your harddisk:
    http://www.ilovefreesoftware.com/22/windows/system-utils/hddscan-free-software-to-scan-bad-sectors-on-hard-disk.html
cache dumps often come in the form of memory problems.
  16. i know but done a memtest yesterday and nothing no errors it really confusing now. :(

what i gave you was a harddisk checker..
