Socket type

I have a dell dimension 3000 that i want to upgrade but keep the processor. It says it is a Pentium 4 processor, 2.8 gHz, but it doesnt say the socket type. Could someone help me please?

That would be a socket 478 system. It is not worth keeping if you are upgrading since compatible motherboards have been of the retail market for years and better CPU's can be had for less than a $100 even sometimes with motherboard.

never mind, we are just upgrading memory and the hard drive now, no need for a new mother board.
