Hey all,

For a while now ive been looking at setting up a 3monitor eyefinity setup with my Radeon HD 5750 just to see how it goes.

I currently have a 19" lcd monitor and a 17" crt which I have setup in eyefinity. My friend has offered me his old crt monitor aswell which I believe is also a 17".
The lcd monitor is currently using its dvi output and both crt monitors have vga outputs and all monitors have a 1280x1024 resolution.

From what I have been reading, you do not actually need an active displayport adaptor if the displayport output it is connected to a vga monitor when being used in lower resolutions. Is this true, as it would be great if I didnt have to go and spend $100+ on an active adaptor?
Any evidence of your answer would be helpful.

Thanks

That is true, if ur using VGA u dont need an active adapter. It still needs to be an displayport to VGA adapter tho.

The easiest for you to know if the adapter ur going to buy is if u would check around with ppl from your own country that is using DP-VGA. Im from sweden so we might have a bit different adapters to chose from :)

ATI have a list of validated adapters, note that theres alot more than just these adapters that work.

There was a guy that was asking about an adapter for VGA some days ago and he bought this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815310003&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3899435&SID=skim1402X558040
This is an active one so it costs a bit more, but i can guarantee it will work.
