That's what I also though but "the max board power of the 480 is 250 watts". If this is true then that leaves 350 watts for the rest of the machine, which seems more than sufficient. I don't plan on overclocking the cards...
EDIT: especially considering that BOTH the cards will never be fully stressed at the same time.
Thanks Davcon... @ Stuart_B, I'm definitely going to go with the Corsair TX850W or even an HX850W, depending on how much money I have and what not. What else have you got in your pc stuart_b?
My components should arrive tommorow. Specs:
i5 2500k Gigabyte GA P67 UD4 Asus 480gtx XFX 850w Core Edition 1TB WD HDD 500GB Hitachi HDD NZXT Lexa S
Will be running a single card at first and will end up picking another up at a later date Ile keep you updated so we can see how we both get on.
Aah, decent setup... I plan on staying on socket 1156 for another 2 years or so. I think we'll be fine with the 850W power supplies, I mean, when will our systems ever be at 100% load on GPU's and CPU at the same time?...
I went ahead and bought the HX850W, very happy with it. I am looking forward to getting another GTX480. However, after all that the new PSU costed, I think it'll be a while until I get another...
