Hello there, I'm wondering if someone can identify the issue I'm having with a "screeching, white noise" sound I'm getting when my computer shuts down or restarts. It seems like the moments after it completely shuts down, but before the power supply has turned off (maybe a full second, prob 1/2sec) I'm getting this crazy screeching, almost scratching sound blaring out my speakers. I have both a HDD and a SSD but suspect the HDD since it spins and what not. Is this sound I'm hearing coming from my hard drive? If so, is that bad? Thanks!

SInce the sound is coming thru the speakers, I'd suspect this is likely an anomolous sound card/on-board sound chip behavior/ trait, when the sound chip is in a 'confused'/non-reset state...I doubt it has anything to do with the drive, truthfully.

^ that.

See if there was a recent update to your sound card driver, and revert back.

Or uninstall it and let the OS "find" it again and install the latest drivers.

Or check the plug on the back and make sure it's fully seated. Half plugged in 3.5 plugs can cause LOTS of unwanted and unusual noise.
