hi there,
this is the first time i am posting a question to this community. I am a finance guy looking to build my own computer for running data intensive programs (Matlab/SAS), for supporting 3 monitors to view bloomberg/ markets, and maybe eventually using my PC as a home theater PC. I have no previous computer building experience
and I am not looking for extreme gaming solutions or over-clocking.
Budget = max $1500 (for new i7 950 CPU, casing, 12GB RAM, power supply, motherboard, optical drive, intel SSD). I already have 3 monitors and an ATI HD 5770 video card.
this is what i have so far:
A. $230 intel x25m 120 gb SSD
B. $240 Patriot Viper II Sector 7 Edition DDR3 12 GB (3 x 4 GB)
C. $120 Antec CP-850 850 Watt CPX Power
D. $185 Antec P193 Advanced Super Mid Tower case for low noise
Total so far = 775; remaining budget for CPU + motherboard = 725 max
I would be grateful if you could let me know what you think about my choices so far and whether i should wait for the new Sandybridge intel processor and compatable motherboard. Also, please offer your recommendations on the what is the best:
1. motherboard
2. CPU
3. RAM
thanks very much
