Hl-dt-st rw/dvd gcc 4243n, error 39

Hello,
I have a Toshiba satelite, probably 6 years old and my cd/dvd does not work at all. device manager says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I have have uninstalled and attempted to reinstall but that does not work

looks like its time to change your dvd drive again..

When i put a cd in it spins around and the light flashes but thats about it. Nothing shows up under My Computer, doesn't show there is a cd even inserted in the drive. So your thinking it's been a good run, buy a new one?
