CPU Bottleneck?

I recently upgraded my 8800GT to a 1GB 460GTX and I'm not seeing anywhere near the performance jump that I had expected. I know that the newer graphics cards sometime out power older CPUs and I was wondering if this might be what I'm experiencing and if there is a non-upgrade way around the issue.

Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Q6600 (Stock settings)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P
4 x 2GB OCZ DDR2 1066 RAM
Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W
EVGA 1GB 460GTX SC

OC'ng your CPU will definitely give you a boost in performance but you should have gotten a huge performance increase even without OC'ng.
What games did you test and what settings/resolution did you play ?

For settings, I'd specifically like to know what resolution? And of course which games.

yep. it would bottleneck. Im actually bottlenecked right now . running the same card at phenom 9550x4 at stock(2.2) and im very sad since my board is OEM. consider 3.0-3.5 ghz. these new cards needs it's friends to keep up
