Is choppy captured HD Vid due to bad Graphics card?

Okay I'm capturing Vid from a Hauppauge PVR 1212 and even though it captures fine the recordings are kinda slow and choppy. Even after I import them into Sony Vegas and reformat them (still in HD format) they still have lacy and jumpy vid plaback. My current graphics card is a 256 integrated card. I forget the number exactly but its a geforce 6000 series. Is the cause of the possible bad capture and choppy vid due to such a low graphics card?

6xxx series cards are not known for their HD capabilities. Minimum cards I would use is either Nvidia 8400GS or ATI HD3450
