OEM OS and new Motherboard?

Hi so I want to replace my old crappy motherboard with a new one. They will both be 1155 pin. I was just wondering if I replace the old motherboard will I be able to keep my Windows 7 OS and will it be hard installing all the new drives and stuff? I don't have a license or anything because its from the OEM.

No. HP and compaq won't even load their windows files with non oem boards. You will need a new microsoft coa number and disk.

Not entirely true. If you can boot up and use the command prompt, the OEM does have a log file that checks the motherboard on startup and then disables it if it is not the same motherboard that was shipped with the OS. I found this file doing a lot of research for my Compaq desktop. Don't remember where I found the answers, but they are out there.
