1.6ghz i7 vs Sandy Bridge 2.3Ghz i7

Hi guys,
i am wondering if a Sandry Bridge processor will improve games and CPU depedant tasks, I know the old i7 is 1.6ghz and will go up to 2.8ghz and the new one will go from 2.3ghz to 3.4ghz, and how much will it improve performance in general, with CPU dependant games etc,
