Won't boot up with 2 sets of DDR3 I7

My PC crashed whilst playing Battlefield 3 (bring on that first patch!).

When I attempted to turn it back on after having to cut the power, it wouldn't boot up at all.

After resetting the motherboard by taking out the battery, it did get into windows, I ran a startup repair, it got to a while in, then BSOD'ed.

Eventually I managed to pin it down to the memory. I have 2x4GB and 2x2GB.

The PC boots up perfectly when only either of these is in, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with either of these sets.

When both are inserted, I get a blue screen when trying to boot up which points to a dll file in system32. Unfortunately I haven't noted the name down yet.

Can anybody give me a clue as to what has happened here?

Thanks for reading,
