Maybe opt up on the MB to an 800 series chipset with SATA6 and USB 3.0, but overall a good build.

Is this the PSU? => http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124927 ..if so maybe change to => http://www.ebuyer.com/product/221652 or something else "80+ Certified".

just a few thing the board you chose is old but not bad and i cant seem to find an 8 series board with similar features in your price range

get a better quality power supply the antec below is enough for any graphics cept the 480/580 and 5970/6990 class

if you want 2 cards in future up untill 2 6870's or any 1 of the above mentioned cards get this
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/241554

no reason to get the 965 over the 955 they both hav the same clock limits and its easy to clock the 955 to 965 speeds

First off thank you both for your replies, you've put my mind to rest that this is a good build.

A couple more questions:
1) is the cooling from fans in the case adequate? Or should I invest in more?

2)I'm upgrading from an old dell 8400, I'm guessing the answer is yes, but will I notice a large performance improvement for things like encoding video and graphic design?

Whilst I always like the idea of upgrading I tend not to be able to justify the cost.
With regards to the age of the mother board do you think it's worth spending the extra money to get a newer one?

the cooling is adequate but you gonna need more if you going to overclock but adding another case fan shouldn hurt and both amd and intel will be releasing some new stuff early next year so you can see whats available then
