Hello,

Just a quick question about my Asus laptop. Who manufactures the display? Is it Asus themselves or does another company actually make the display?

(I'm monitor shopping and would buy an Asus monitor simply by how rich my laptop display is, as long as they are indeed the ones producing the display.)

Thanks!

LG, Samsung, Dell, Acer, Viewsonic to name a few GOOD major brand manufacturers.

Of those only LG and Samsung actually manufactures LCD panels.

Other are Chi Mei, Au Optronics, Hitachi-Matsushita, Mitsubishi, Sharp.

Difficult to say without ripping apart your laptop.

Laptop and LCD monitor manufacturers do not use a single supply source for parts. They can have several contracts for different LCD panel manufacturers to supply them with the required type of LCD panel. For laptops that's an overwhelming 95%+ TN panels. As far as I know only the high end HP EliteBook 8000 series uses something other than TN panels; they use IPS panels.

For example, the Samsung 226BW monitor was very popular around 3 or 4 years ago. The TN panels used in that monitor came from Samsung, AU Optronics and Chi Mei.
