Very Slow Boot Up

Keep in mind I haven't changed any hardware recently, and this problem started happening lately.

Issue: After turning on my PC, I can see fans spinning and LEDs on so its obviously being powered up. But the fans and LEDs stop after a few seconds and then start back up after a few seconds. Sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes for it to finally turn on, sometimes only 5 minutes.

- PSU: OCZ Game X Stream 600 W
- HDD: Seagate 500 GB 32 MB Cache 7200 RPM
- OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit (Student Edition)

HELP. Thanks.

More about very slow boot
  1. First prime suspect would be the PSU....(even PSUs from Antec, OCZ, etc, are known to fail occasionally)

Next possible culprits, although less likely....MB or even GPU excessively loading down the PSU
  2. Thanks for the response.

But I still need help on how to fix the problem.
  3. Your system drive is most likely dying. Get a new one, install Windows on it and see if the problem persists.
  4. Still having the same problem. And its very annoying.

I even put a working hard drive from another PC in there and it did not boot up. So its clearly not the HDD at all.

    Anyone have any ideas?
  5. did you try the PSU as mentioned earlier?
