I am about to pull the trigger on buying another 5870, but I'd like to confirm that it will work with my current setup. My PSU is an 700w 50a over 2 rails. it comes with 2 pci-e connectors (currently used by my first 5870). Can I buy 2 molex to 6pin pci connectors to power my second 5870? Will that work?

My motherboard is an Asus M4A78T-E,

psu is ocz700wmxsp

Your OCZ 700W ModXStream Pro is only capable of delivering 80% of its labeled Wattage according to HardOCP's test review. The test showed a maximum of 37 Amps from the combined +12 Volt rails (i.e. 12V1 @ 18A and 12V2 @ 19A).

It definitely cannot provide the 12V1 @ 25A and 12V2 @ 25A claimed on the label.

I don't recommend OCZ power supplies to anyone.

A Radeon HD 5870 has a Maximum board power draw of 188 Watts (15.7 Amps) from the +12 Volt rails. Two in CrossFireX mode will draw a maximum of 31.4 Amps. That only leaves 5.6 Amps for powering your CPU, motherboard chipset, expansion cards, hard disk drives, CD/DVD/BR drive, etc. It's not enough.

If you really want to run two Radeon HD 5870 in CrossFireX mode you will have to budget for a better reputable brand 600 Watt or higher power supply unit that has at least four 6-pin PCI Express Supplementary Power Connectors.
