Hiya all, building a new computer for a ton of gaming, some video editing, and overclocking. Looking for help/suggestions for a motherboard that will fit my specs well.
GPU: MSI GTX N580 Lighting Extreme Edition 3 GB - I plan to SLI in the near future (I understand this card is huge so wondering if it will fit SLI in my Cosmos 1000)
CPU: i5 2500k - planning to get a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO for aftermarket cooling
PSU: Corsair Professional Series HX850
Memory: GSkill Ripjaws X Series 8 GB 8-8-8-24 or whatever works with the motherboard i decide on.
OS: Windows 7 64 Home Premium
Motherboard: ?? - I have pretty much decided on getting a P67 over Z68 board because i really don't feel i need what the Z68 features but if anyone thinks my specs would fit it better then please explain why.
Boards i have looked at: Been looking at Asus mostly just because i hear great things about their bios.
Asus P67 WS Revolution
Asus P8P67 Deluxe
Asus P67 Sabertooth
All of these boards look reliable and pretty decent but i just cant decide on which would best fit my needs.
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB
SSD: Crucial M4 128 GB
Case Form Factor: ATX - Case is the Coolermaster Cosmos 1000
I am interested in doing some video editing, a lot of gaming, SLI eventually when the price of GTX 580 goes way down, and i would like to OC. My budget on the motherboard is 250 so if anyone has any suggestions for motherboards it would be much appreciated especially if you have first hand experience with the board. I would like to future proof for Ivy bridge and decent on board sound is desirable although i will be picking up a sound card eventually. I really just want a Mobo that wont bottleneck my other components and can OC really well/easily.
By the way if you have other suggestions for my build they would be much appreciated thanks (:
Alright you've convinced me to go with the WS Revolution although i have heard that the NF200 adds latency but i am not sure about that. I'm not to familiar with SSD's and heard the M4 was a great drive but can you tell me more about the tier system? For GPU you would suggest SLI 560-448s over SLI GTX 580 Extreme Lighting? I wouldnt start with two 580s but i would add another on later. What are the benefits of 2 560s besides price wise (which is obvious actually but price isnt a problem). I mainly want good cooling and OCing on a GPU. Also you said Corsair low profile Vengeance. Would you say this is better memory over Gskill Ripjaws?
