I'm planning on using this computer for some gaming, maybe wow, photo/video editing, media, and internet. Trying to keep price in mind, this is what i've come up with so far. What are your opinions/suggestions, specifically about psu and gpu? I plan on having a i7-950 but will be getting that separately, everything else through newegg. Thanks in advance for the help :D

Looks like a CPU/GPU mismatch to me. I think you'd want a more powerful GPU if you're going with an i7, or a better suited CPU to the 5770. I don't know that there's a point in buying such an old GPU, especially at that price, unless of course it's just the first step to a Crossfire setup.

yea, the gpu is something i wasnt quite sure about. i don't want to really get into the $200 range, but still want a decent card for gaming and photo/video editing. Any suggestions?

Agreed w/ Psycho guy above about GPU mismatch. Also w/ video editing in the mix, you'll want CUDA

Suggest a 470 GTX for $209:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121400

This RAM has same specs and is $20 cheaper
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145258

But these are CAS 7 and only $5 more than your GSkill's
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227640

Another $10 will get ya CAS 6

If ya think you will ever add a 2nd GFX card, might wanna up the PSU to an 850 watter. If so would recommend:

Mid Tower - HAF 922 w/ XFX Black Edition
$99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119197
$129 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207001

Full Tower - DF-85 w/ CP-850
$180 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129087 (Dang, was $140 in November)
$108 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371024

BTW, you're buying DDR3-1600 I can only assume because you want a 50% overclock. If not DDR3-1066 will suffice. A 25% OC requires DDR3-1333.

If OC'ing (and the 950 begs for it) you'll want an aftermarket CPU cooler. Pick on from here:

I'd recommend the Scythe 2100 ($40) the above's 2nd place finisher w/ Shin Etsu TIM but check to see if it fits in ya case if sticking w/ the 300.

Thanks for the suggestions. Actually the g.skill has $20 off promo so it's the same price as the corsair. I was hoping stay within the current price which is why i was going for a cheaper case and gpu. I guess i'll need to try to swap a few things around or look for more combo deals :na:
