Seems like RAM kits are in short supply. Any difference between the XMS3, Vengence, Low Profile and Dominator brands? Anyone have issues with the XMS3 sticks?

Things to compare between memory are voltage ratings, timings, and speed. The performance between the slowest DDR3 kits and fastest DDR3 kits doesn't justify the cost in nearly all cases.

In general, both the XMS3 and Vengeance kits serve the same mainstream market. Low profile just means that the heatsinks are not tall, in case you are using a huge CPU cooler like the Noctua NH-D14. The Dominator kits are the highest speed, enthusiast grade memory Corsair makes, although by far the most expensive.

Thank you for the info. I have the CM Hyper 212 +

So the higher the Latency/timings; the faster? LP, Dominator, and XMS3 are all showing on Corsairs approved/tested list of motherboards. So the LP is basically a smaller heatsink than the dominator because I see they are the same timings and voltage. I also see the same 4GB Dominator sticks with the same timings but higher voltage, because of the bigger heatsinks? So really, if I buy 16GB (4x4gb) kits and they have same timings it's not worth the extra money? Seems like the Dominators don't come in 4x4GB kits )for 1600mhz) so buying 2 kits is more expensive and not worth it.

The lower the timings the better, with the first number listed (the CAS latency) being the most important. Speed is usually more important than timings (ex. 8 CAS latency 1333mhz < 9 CAS latency 1600 mhz)

A hyper 212+ shouldn't have any problems with non low profile RAM.

I was going to get the 1600mhz (9 CAS latency 9-9-9-24) but the LP's are out of stock as well as the vengence (CAS: 8).

So there is no real difference between 9-9-9-24 CAS: 9 and CAS: 8-8-8-24 (both 1600mhz)

I'm torn between the Vengence (Cas: 9) and XMS3 (Cas: 9)...both are same price. The Vengeance (for high performance gaming) is out of stock but has the same timings and Vengeance that's in stock (CAS:9 9-9-9-24).

Any difference between the game grade vengeance and regular vengeance? The timings are the same.

Yeah, in Newegg, the one with the higher fins says "for high performance and gaming memory." Same price as the low profile ones, same CAS and timings as well as voltage. I got the low profile so it will surely clear my heatsink/fan.
