I have tried many different setups, but I can't get to work SLi using 8800GT (G92) and 8800GTX (G80).

This is my current computer setup

Operating System
- MS Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
CPU
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 46 °C
- Kentsfield 65nm Technology
RAM
- 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (5-5-5-15)
Motherboard
- NVIDIA NFORCE 680i SLI (Socket 775)
Graphics
- L226WT @ 1680x1050
- AL2223W @ 1680x1050
- 512MB GeForce 8800 GT (EVGA)(G92) 61 °C
- 768MB GeForce 8800 GTX (BFG Tech)(G80) 74 °C
Hard Drives
- 1465GB Seagate ST315003 41AS SCSI Disk Device (SCSI)
- 147GB Western Digital WDC WD15 00HLFS-01G6U SCSI Disk Device (SCSI)
- 488GB Western Digital WDC WD50 00AACS-00ZUB SCSI Disk Device (SCSI)
Optical Drives
- TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S162L ATA Device
- VWJQJ TQRGDURCP2 SCSI CdRom Device
Audio
- High Definition Audio Device

This is what I tried:

- Windows XP Pro 32-bit
- Windows 7 64-bit
- Interchanging the Video Cards into different PCI-Ex slots
- Moving or removing the SLi connector (the cable that connects the two video cards)
- I checked the Mobo BIOS but there are no SLi setting that I can enable/disable (and my Mobo is SLi ready)
- Both motherboard and videocard drivers are up to date

I tried all the above , but when I open the nVidia control panel, the SLi doesn't show up at all. All I can see is the Physx settings, but no SLi settings. Both Video card are showing under the nVidia control panel, and both cards are showing without problems under device manager.

I have to say that, before, when I had 2 identical 8800GT the SLi was working just fine.

I can't understand why SLi isn't working. Any idea or suggestion?

Thanks.

Ok, that is correct. I found the info that I needed directly from the nVidia website.

From nVidia FAQ: http://www.slizone.com/page/slizone_faq.html#c5

I don't know why, but I was sure that we could mix different videocards together. Maybe I got confused with ATI CF technology.

ATI has something called Hybrid Crossfire but only works with selected integrated video and discrete video cards.

Also in the future, there is HydraLogix from LucidLogix that will enable different card architecture to work together but it is different than Crossfire/SLI. With this tech nVidia and ATI cards will supposed to be able to work together like Crossfire and SLI.

Read HydraLogix Vs. SLI And CrossFire

Hybrid crossfire isn't really relevant. ATI cards based on the same core can crossfire as well, ie HD5830/50/70, HD4830/50/70/90, but in general it isn't a particularly good idea as the results won't be much better than using two of the weaker card.
