hello.
my old computer has gone really really old.i am planning to buy a new one.i will be keeping my old chasing and hard disk and my psu (450 W).
all i need is a mother board,a cpu and a gpu.i have a few suggestions in mind.
for cpu i would like to go with phenom II x4 955.
gpu ati radeon hd 5670.
i am not so big on gaming,just a casual gamer.the thing is my budget is extremely tight.18000 and that's not in dollars...its in rupees.so i need a motherboard which will definitely support these.

i heard something like ati hd 5670 is pcie 2.1.
what does that mean.it will not be compact able in a pcie2.0 motherboard.
please i need help.ones i buy these then there is no returning them back to ebay.
i would also like my computer to be powered by DDR3 memory(4gb).
yeah i also want ram.4 gb is what i have in mind.

What hdd, disk drive, and power supply are you using? If you are using old IDE, you will need a different motherboard, if you are using SATA 3gb, you will be okay. Also, what brand of PSU and can you give me a link to it? You will need a good 450w PSU that has 24 motherboard pins and high-quality.

Also, PCI-E 2.1 will work in 2.0. They are backwards compatible and you will not lose performance.

Have you considered that you will need some DDR3 ram for that motherboard..?? Anyway, since you are buying online, take a look at the underlying suggestions -

That overshoots your budget a little but gets you excellent hardware.. If you are strict with your budget then consider getting an Athlon II instead of a Phenom II..

there is something that says it supports DDR3 ram at 1066 when a am3 cpu is used

i dont like old PSU..They tend to manifest alot of problems.Please change your psu, psu often are the first ones to die..

why is athlon II better than phenom II.but is n't athlon II old?

The only difference between the Athlon II and Phenom II is the L3 cache which is absent in the Athlon II.. And it doesn't make a world lot of difference.. My idea of including the Athlon II was to accommodate the HD 5770 within your budget..

Well, SATA is not always red, but sometimes. IDE is not always grey either though. When you looked at it, did it look like a ribbon or did it look like a regular cord. most of it was the same except for the color mine was red in color,yeah come to think of it it did look like a ribbon.

Well, IDE is slow, so I would buy a new hard drive, and maybe even a new optical drive. You will also need DDR3 RAM in that motherboard. What is an Indian web site that I can search for hardware for you and keep it under 18,000 rupees? The Hard drive I would recommend is the WB black caviar 500gb drive, but that costs $60. You would need the 3gb SATA version and a 3gb SATA cable. I would get a WD blue caviar drive though because they are cheaper and work just fine, I am actually using one now!
