Hey, I have a Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT. When I play counter-strike 1.6, my frames jump between 10-100, and there is almost never a constant. I never stay at a steady frame rate, a just go all over the place. It makes the game pretty frustrating to play.

It didn't used to happen. Does anyone have any idea why? The card isn't exactly great, but its CS1.6. It should not have a problem running this game.

What system do you have?
Sounds like poor cooling of the card. Open the system up and take out all the hairballs you can find in there. Dust it off and try again. Good luck!

I assumed that, too, but still he could try and clean the system up (literally).
Sometimes partially blocked air intake wreaks havoc on framerates for laptops.
in my case, I can play a certain level of a certain game smoothly if I lift the edge of the laptop with a pencil. Go figure...
