How to encrypt internet connection

Hello,I currently have an unsecured internet access. How do I convert it to a secure password access ?

you can password protect your computer, but not really your internet. You can also password protect your wireless though, but that's only between the wireless card and AP.

Encryption requires both the client and the server to both be using the same encryption protocol. This is not something you can just "check box" on for everything.
