2 Radeon HD 5850's or a single card solution?

I currently own a SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP that is about a year old and I am working on building a new PC and I am wondering if it is better to spend about $260 and get a second HD 5850 and run them in Crossfire or would it be better to save the $260, sell my current card for $100 or so and buy a new single card solution?

ANy tips?

Thanks,
Chris

More about radeon 5850 single card solution
  1. Well if you have $260 and sold your current HD5850 for $100 then you'd have enough for a GTX480 which is slower than HD5850 CF

HD5850 CF is about as fast as a HD5970

  2. I would perfer to go with a songle card solution since not all games take advantage of XFire. I would wait for the HD 6970 to come out before making a move. Unlike the HD 5970, the HD 6970 will be a single GPU solution and the performance is expected to be between the HD 5870 and HD 5970 (being closer to the HD 5970). Only benchmarks will tell...
