Budget Gaming Computer

Hello Forum, I am building a computer for a friend that is in need of a gaming desktop. He is using his income tax money to purchase this and has a max limit of 600$ and can not go over. The main game he plays is World of Warcraft and as we all know, its not a very intense game, but he likes to turn the graphics up if possible. Other games are Killing Floor and Starcraft II. This is the rig I was able to put together for under 600$ and it seems to be very even when is comes to the hardware.

For gaming he should get an Athlon II X3. Wait a few days, at the end of each month they reset the combo deals and put them back a few days later, come back in a few days.

No way would I buy a cheap psu for $29, even if it includes a case.

The only case vendor I would trust would be antec. How about the Antec NSK 4482 with a 380w psu?

Is your friend a student with a .edu e-mail address? If so, he can get a w7 academic license for about $30.

I saw that somewhere a while ago, and thought it was a great deal. I do not qualify, so I have not followed up on it. Some universities have struck special deals, I think.

WOW! for that kind of hardware (5770, X3, 500 GB) etc. I'm sure I can convince my friend that this is worth the wait to upgrade Thank you very very much, I will let him know about this right away.

And btw, Thank you to everyone that has helped in this, I have an uncle that is in IT and will contact him to see if he can make a deal for us with a copy of windows 7. (I do have XP and keys at my home right now.)

Don't bother with Windows 7, XP is fine. I have dual boot 7/XP and I'm using the XP (I customized mine).
