I been under the notion that the mobo type of ram doesn't affect the graphics card but I'm really a novice when it comes to graphics card, so I was wondering, if this video card would be compatible with my motherboard. Thanks

Would this video card

XFX GT240XZHFC GeForce GT 240 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

be compatible with my motherboard

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

(and would it be a good deal, lol)

your notion is correct, system ram and video card ram are independent of each other.

oh, I brought the motherboard like 1-2 weeks ago, but I haven't brought the video card yet. I thought the video card might've been a good deal just because it had a $40 rebate + $15 promo, but I wasn't quite sure & I dislike rebates lol. I actually don't need micro atx, but I brought it because it was part of a deal at the time.

are you looking to play video games? or just to run two monitors, watch videos, etc.,

what monitor resolution do you have and what PSU do you have?

My monitor resolution setting right now is 1440 x 990 resolution (19inch widescreen monitor) with a Topower EP-500PMX 500W High Quality ATX12V V2.0 PSU. I haven't been gaming that much lately, but I'm looking to play video games for times when I do want to.

Ok what would you like to spend on the video card then with out rebates

I think at most I want to spend is $60, but it would be nice if i can just spend about $30 and get something decent.

The best deal is probably the

SAPPHIRE 100253HDMI Radeon HD 4650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Low Profile Ready Video Card
$50

At newegg.com

you won't get much for $30.

at around $60 look for an ATI 4670 DDR3 card or a GT 240 DDR5 card
November 3, 2010 3:21:11 PM

would be best choice for the money 4670 for $65 at newegg.com

Would it be a good deal to go with the sapphire radeon hd 4650, or would you strongly recommend the 4670 over it?
November 3, 2010 4:00:07 PM

the 4670 has about %15 more power than the 4650. for the $10 difference i would go with the 4670.
