Hello,
I have access to some Xeon processors and am looking for the right gaming mobo for them. They are all FC LGA1366. Will they work in normal LGA 1366 sockets?
The SUPERMICRO MBD-X8SAX-O might support it (double-check with SuperMicro). It isn't a gaming motherboard, but it should work. You could sell it and get a gaming processor like the i7 2600K, a motherboard, memory and make some money in the process.
Yes as long as the motherboard supports the processor that you want to use. Check the CPU list to see which processors are supported. As an example, the Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer supports several Xeon processors while the Rampage III Formula doesn't.
Thanks for the info. I will keep searching. I have an x5687 processor that was given to me and I don't want to spend more than $300 on a motherboard. I don't seem to find it on any supported list
