ATI 6870 Temps

Hi, I got a Sapphire 6870 earlier this week.

Runs great, idle temps are really good, however when i play bad company 2 (1600x900) @ 8xMSAA and max settings, my GPU temp hits 78c (never broke 80 over extensive playing).

Is 78c a safe load temp? I was under the impression that modern gpu's can run a lot hotter than cpus, and 70-80 is safe. Is this correct?

That is perfectly safe, I'm getting idle temps of 45-55 depending on room temperature, and 75-85 load temps, again depending on room temperature.
