hi,

could any one please suggest me a combination of processor ,mobo and graphic card for a new htpc build under 200$...200$ is the approx budget for the entire rig. I already made a choice of 1gb ram and 300gb hd and need a case for around 50-60$

I already have a new PC which is an core i5 with 4 gigs of ram.. i m looking for an alternate to media players within 200$, which can play HD content to my Plasma

Honestly- that'll be really hard.

Best bet is to get bare bones or refurbed OLD computer with PCI-e, and get a 60 dollar AMD card with Audio via HDMI.

Thats my two cents!

If you have a MicroCenter near you, then check out their AMD bundles. The MSI 785GM-P45 and X4 640 is an OK combo. The MSI board has integrated 4200 video which is sufficient for 1080 resolution and also has an HDMI output (audio and video). $100 will get you started with a MB+CPU, but you are probably not going to fit an entire PC in that $200 budget.

Thanks for your suggestions, i can stretch another 100$.. i just need a good combo enough to play blu ray discs flawlessly.. as i already have another PC i wont be using it for any other purposes except watching movies and video recording from Tv

Blu-Ray playback on that 4200 chipset at 1080 resolution works just fine. With a $300 budget things change...

1TB Samsung F3- $60. You can get the 500GB F3, but you will only save $10...
