I am planning to let employees access the Server
at my business from a laptop/notebook computer
I will purchase from Dell shortly. We will use a VPN
connection, then Terminal Services to get to the
programs they need to run on the server, with
separate passwords for each connection.

There are three employees involved. One has a
cable modem hookup available; one has a DSL
line; and the other has only dial-up phone jack.

How to configure the portable computer so that
each employee can use separate connections? That
is, is there a single modem 'card' that will do it, or do
I need separate connections for each of them? I
think wireless is available on the cable modem, but
not sure.

It will work even better (no router problems to contend with) just
very slowly.

I haven't done this myself but when I pull up my XP HELP, there is an
extensive write up on this subject. The client is built int XP. Just
follow the instructions.

On the server side, typically the VPN server resides on the
firewall/router. U can also run a VPN server behind the FW and
configure your router to let VPN traffic through.

DSL/Cable clients also need to inform their routers to let VPN
through.
