Sound muted when doing anything(read)

hey this is my system


Processor:Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.3GHz
Memory:4096MB RAM
Hard Drive: 500GB Total
Video Card:ATI Radeon HD 5750
Monitor:23" acer
Sound Card:Speakers (Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio)
Speakers/Headphones:steelseriers 5hv2
Keyboard:WOLF KING circle gaming keyboard
Mouse: Ozone 5K
Mouse Surface:Roccat Taito
Operating System:Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850)
Motherboard:Asus P8P67 LE Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard

the problem is when i change anything i.e change my name on steam it totally mutes my sound

another example

when i plug my phone cable in to the pc then put the phone on it, it mutes everything again

any help????

Try going to control panel, hardware and sound, sound, communication tab and select do nothing. Please let us know if it resolves the issue.

Ahh....the Extreme Audio, a card thats basically a nerfed X-fi varient. A LOT of known issues with that card...

As per my recommendations with Creative cards: Use either the Daniel_K or PAX driver packs, and never again use the default Creative drivers. My second recommendation is to ditch Creative and actually go with a good brand.
