Last response: in Components

i7 2600k cpu (with Corsair H50 cooler with 2 scythe slipstreams) will be doing some mild overclocking to about 4.2-4.6
p8p67 deluxe mobo
evga 580 gpu going to eventually have another one for sli
64gb crucial ssd
1tb WD or Samsung
Windows 7 home or pro
All packed into an Antec 1200 case all fans high

Looking to get around 1000watt psu (seasonic, xfx, corsair etc...) what should get the job done for the sweet spot price but not have to upgrade in the future?

More about : psu rig

Corsair CMPSU-1000HX fits your needs for a dual card setup or more.

I was looking at that power supply, is that really worth $300+?

I want it, but if I can get the job done with something cheaper.

Corsair Ax 1200 psu... Quality! I assure you this bad boy will take whatever you throw at it! It's one of the first psu's corsair designed themselves from the ground up, and it was close to nearing 80% platinum level efficiency. That's my next psu for sure

The hx1000 aint worth its price its solidly beaten by cheaper power supplies

.the cp1000 is also good but it will only fit in 4 cases made by antec obviously.
have a look at the silverstone strider silver or gold

.even the kingwin lazer gold will beat the hx1000.

and offer better efficiency over the cp1000 and will fit any atx case unlike the cp1000

this is another great option

hey benson.. 2 letters, 4 numbers, "AX 1200"

$329.99! that is pricey, Would I ever need more than 1000w for two 580's and a mild overclock on a 2600k? I'm trying to cut some prices down and the cp 1000 could be beneficial considering I have the antec 1200 case in the box waiting.....

exactly..if you wanna plop that many cards into ur rig then maybe the antec..but i stand by what I said..have i ever done u wrong benson haha.. AX 1200 ..do the right thing, son!

I'll see what I can do. $149.99 for the cp-1000 is too good to pass up. I only plan on running two 580's and that's all I would need and I have the case requirements...

Damn that thing almost handles double its capacity... That can't be good for it or the electricity bill

not exactly double factoring in efficiency its pulling 2200 from the wall but if it breaks 80% efficiency at that load its providing more like 1700 to the system

Still pretty close I guess, either way its ridiculous...

Benson, I see you and I are in the same boat and are ready to pull the trigger on a very similar system.

My difference is that I'm really sold on the Silverstone line, look at the Fortress FT02B case and the Strider 1000w Gold ST1000-G.

That's where I'm going. Search the net for reviews on both of these, nothing but good things.

yeah, thats why I came to this thread. I really like silverstone as well. I already pulled the trigger on some of my pc parts. I have the antec 1200, H50 cooler for my i7 2600k, an evga 580 coming from step up, and 8gb of Mushkin silverline 1333mhz 1.5v ram, and a WD 1tb black hdd. Im just doing the last bit of research and hopefully have all the parts ordered within 2 weeks, and hopefully have the motherboard in a week so I can at least get the base of the computer built....

850 will suffice...the psu is sufficient...my point was the ax 1200 is highly efficient...and perhaps, arguably, the best 1200 watt psu out there...its definitely in my top 3

Its a great point. The issue is the price. even if the cp-1000 is $2 per month less efficient, for $200 less means its a better deal for me at the moment.

of course! I'm one of the most economically conscious people out there..by all means, grab that psu and never look back...the brand is reliable, and it will fulfill your needs... juss sayin..when you hit it big..or win some money at the casino...grab an ax 1200..and ship one to me :)

If I hit it big I'll send you one..... maybe 10...

Got my father waiting on a good pay check, he's going to help me get my funding arranged and I'm going to pull out the good old credit card pretty soon as well. If you have any suggestions or see any good deals just let me know. Can't wait to get some pic's and benches posted.
