More about video card system
  1. GTX 460 1 GB SLI - they easily outperform a GTX 480 or a 5870.
  2. is there much differnce in power and heat consumption between the 460 oc 1gb and the normal 460 768? since im o.c`ing the cpu
  3. You're not interested in the 6870 ? Pretty powerful card, at a good price.
  4. they dont have 6870 at the place i get my stuff

According to this article, the reference 768mb will use ~8-16 watts less per card than the 1mb. It does vary from card to card, and a factory overclock will increase power consumption.

Tempertures will be about the same for the reference models, but a non-reference cooler will lower temperatures. In general these cards do not get very hot, but with a custom cooler, heat will be vented inside the case. The Gigabyte OC series come with a good custom cooler. The regular Gigabyte GTX460 768mb is a reference design.
  6. dude those prices are terrible - and I assume you're being ripped off for every other part in that system. Please check every price against a few decent stores.....

Try (for delivery) or if you've got one local.

$372 (msy) for a 5870 not 550........$179 (pccasegear) for gtx 469 768mb not $220 or whatever they're trying to charge.....
  7. plus the other parts in your system are not great either to be honest...much better choices out there
  8. CoolerMaster HAF 922 Case $145.00
    Intel Core i7 950 $325.00
    Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard Rev2 $245.00
    G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM (3x2GB) DDR3 $169.00
    Corsair HX-850 Power Supply $222.00
Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe CPU Cooler $69.00 (w/ Scythe 120mm SlipStream 1900rpm Fan) $15.00

    (a) 2x Gainward GeForce GTX 460 768MB $358.00
    (b) 2x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB Overclocked $470.00
    (c) 1x HIS Radeon HD6870 1GB $289.00

    Totals: $1548

Just a quick build i've thrown together in 2mins from pccasegear (by no means my best recommendation - and not as cheap as MSY), for you to sanity check against whatever you'd be paying for your pc. GPU wise I wouldn't be going to crazy with the 69XX coming out soon - and to be honest if you can hold out till early next year for the new lineup of Intel / AMD chipsets/cpus i'd recommend that.
  9. ye well all i got to say is no way in hell im getting a sycthe or megahelms cpu cooler is most important part and silver arrow is the best atm thx for the info on 69XX and new cpus coming out next year i may hold of until then.

if pccase gear not build the system then send it to u then there`s no point cause i got no idea on how to assemble a comp.

and no idea how to o.c either so the place i get my stuff is the only option
  10. hole point of this is that somone was giving me 2000 dollars and i was gonna only end up paying 600-700 out of my own pocket lol
  11. what i really need is a site like pccase gear IN AU that lets u make your own pc build then assembles it and ships it out from what i can tell u cant do that on pccase gear
  12. @methix0r, use the "quick edit" function instead of bumping your thread.
  13. Mwave has a "custom build system" thing.
  14. ahh ye i see that prices r a tad higher than pccase but thats ok since they let u build your own system assmeble it and ship it out nayce!
