Can a server run win7?

With servers being so much faster than PC’s and Holding more ram with 2 CPU’s will it run a PC OS like Windows 7?
Would games work and run better or not at all?
This is Money is not an obstacle question….

Win7 Professional and higher can support 2 physical CPUs and 192GB of RAM so can definitely be installed on server systems.

For games a server system may not perform anywhere near as well as a conventional desktop system for games etc. THis is because games and similar applications require a different type of processing power, something a server is not designed to provide.

I'm not sure how much better 2 CPUs will provide for a games, it depends on how well they can be shared with threading and memory management.

It can probably be an entire benchmarked system but the result may not be anything near the amount of money spent compared to a normal system.

The biggest issue with running a server for games is that many servers don't have the needed video card slot. This has been going away now that are using PCIe instead of AGP for video. Older servers which only have PCI or PCIx would make horrible gaming machines. Newer servers would be fine, but you would be spending more then you'd need to.
