Hello,
My husband tells me the computer stopped working, and a fan error message comes on. We take the panel off, and plug the cpu back in, the heatsink fan was not working, so I replaced it. Now it powers up, but all the fans stop working, and it shows a no siginal on the scree. wtheck?

Could be the power supply or motherboard. I would change the power supply first; it's fairly easy for most folks; get a high end brand such as corsair or antec in 300-400 watts. Or you can test your old one first, but I've never done this, since I always keep a spare. Also please list the error message.

My husband didn't write the code down before it stopped sending a siginal. The computer is 5-years old, so it probably wouldn't be cost effective to replace both. If I have to replace the computer, do to recommend a brand that actually works until it is really obsolete? Other than the day after you buy it? Mahalo

try to get the best CPU you can purchase. RAM is pretty easy to upgrade in most PCs and is rather cheap now so you will see slow CPUs bundled with tons of RAM (avoid those PCs). look for intel i7 and intel i5 2XXX series CPUs.
