Hi all,

I would like to know which CPU would be the best match for this GPU (HD6850), I have all these systems at hand.

Q9300 OC to 3GHz
Q9400 OC to 3.2GHz
PII 955BE OC to 3.6GHz

Common parts:

4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-1066 CL5
1TB HD103SJ
620W Enermax MODU 82+
samsung 22 monitor @1650x1050

another question would be, HD 5770 or HD 6850, for these systems.

Thanks

There is not that much in it but the 955BE is the best by a small margin, none of the systems will bottleneck a 5770 or a 6850. The 6850 is better but more expensive.

The PII 955BE OC to 3.6ghz, would be the best match for a HD 6850.

Thanks for the replies, so i will match the 6850 with the 955 be, and get 5770's for the intel quads?

Well you may be better off looking at the gtx 560ti and 550ti models from nvidia, as i think they have the upper hand on ati in that price range.

phenom and 6850, i've got the 955 and going for 6850 soon :p , phenom beats the quads almost always and almost in everything, what about GTX 550 it's even not worth buying, it's only 5-8% better than 5770 and far away from 6850

The 550ti is lower performance than the 6850 and should be around the same price as the 5770 as you say the 560ti is not priced close. The 1Gb 460 from Nvidia is close to the price and performance of the 6850. If you can afford to I would get a 6850 for all the systems (or a 1Gb GTX 460 if they are cheaper) as the performance increase is large compared to the price increase from the 5770. see the comparison here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/291?vs=296&i=188...

Thanks, i might just sell the quads to get me a 1090T. I have no idea but, nvidia seems to be more expensive here in israel.

I looked at the benches, I think you are right. I should just get HD 6850 for all the systems.
