Helloz,

With various game recorders like fraps and xfire, what component of the computer is used to improve the lag and better the in game play,

like is it the cpu that needs to good in order for it to function smoothly or is it the graphic card or maybe both? kthxs or even rams lol

It is more a combination of the CPU and GPU that allow the game to run smoothly over the other components (balance setup). A more powerful GPU is the quickest way to increase your FPS, which typically results in games running smoothly.

it does also help if with the software you use to record is if you
have alot of options for video format
I used Taksi which is a freeware program similar to FRAPS and
I found if I record with no compression I get the smoothest FPS
then I use a video converter and convert the uncompressed footage
over to avi format and the video comes out looking good

I know what you mean
My video I just did looks good running on my computer but
I just did a game video for youtube and
it is extremely hard to have high settings in a game
along with good video quality
I did a capture of 1920x1080 Crysis Warhead on gamer settings
and my computer runs it decently but with the recording software
my FPS drops and plus I transcode the video and then Youtube does their thing and it doesnt look good
There are times on Toms where you want to show that your system can play
a game and it is hard to prove because of those reasons

that was me
but saving it uncompressed and then later encoding to avi container
(h264 or xvid are decent codecs) though with .mkv you can get a nice quality with great compression
By doing it uncompressed it reduces the strain on cpu during gameplay for better FPS during game
If you try to encode and play at same time it drags the game down on lesser systems my Coe2Duo
I am sure an I5 or I7 can encode and still rock some good FPS
