I live in the United States and have bought from newegg before. This would be my first time building a computer although I've messed with older systems before but nothing serious. Simply put I'm looking for advice. I would be purchasing in a week or so.. but there is no true timetable. But I don't want to go over $700 and I'm looking to play starcraft 2 and empire total war.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model

I'm wondering if everything is compatible and if there are better choices for the system. I'm am not dead set on the case and the gpu. I want to be able to crossfire but that can come later. let me know thanks.

It's all compatible. I would advise on stepping up to at least the 5770, but I guess for SC 2 a 5750 would be fine. I would also advise getting a full size ATX motherboard. They are just easier to work with and more upgradeable. I have an ASrock 870 Extreme 3 and I'm very pleased with it. It's the same price at newegg as what you picked. It can also CF at 8x. Lots of people don't like ASrock because they used to be low quality, but they have come around.

Ive changed my gpu and mobo to these after reading the suggestions:

XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX

ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

I don't need a big hdd but how low is too low? I was thinking around 640 GB but I could go lower with 320GB. I have an external that I store music and important files on. So the HDD would be used primary for games.

5 or 6 games ranging from starcraft 2, empire total war, rome total war (both with mods from the total war guys, 25+gb ), and then some older games I enjoy.... tf2, sim city metropolis, and halflife.

I didnt look at that psu because it was 550watt and I was under the impression that I should spend on at least 650 watt for upgrading purposes. If a 550 watt system could handle crossfire and the rest of the system I was looking at the great but if that puppy is gonna pull its weight I dont want to spend the money

nLet me know what you decide. I built the $1500.00 job with a few tweaks. I'm not a hard core gamer so I dropped one of the GPU's in my build. Saved $300.00. I upgraded the HD to larger and I got Corsair H50 cooler. I went on the Dell website and built the exact same configuration as the one i put together but I did it for $900.00 less.
n
nSome more good advise that helped me a lot on my first build besides reading. Watch a lot of you tube videos. Any parts your thinking of buying and assembling are posted. Both specs and how to's. Take your time be patient and understand your motherboard manual completely.
n
nKeep in touch, I'm curious to know how you progress and feel free to ask questions.
n
nGood Luck Bro, your gonna feel great when you crank it up and it works.
