ok, here is what I am looking at so far...looking for input and ideas...

- Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor BX80601950

- EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1572-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI

- GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

- WIndows 7 home edition

got a case and some old wd250 HDs, still need the following
-powersupply
-SSD for OS

if anyone has a better idea let me know...or a place to skimp or swap something out, am looking for ideas this way...

want a gaming rig basically, something to play games on "high" for the next 2 years at least....most games anyway...in time I know it will get old, but the more futureproof the better...

thanks in advance

You should wait for Sandy Bridge it will save you money and you will be able to play games on higher setting then the i7 950

i5 2500K ($220)
Cooler master hyper 212+ ($27) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002G1YPH0/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=13QCCD44J3EAH4K9ZJV7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846
Asus sabertooth ($190)
g skill ram 4gb ($70) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231430&cm_re=g_skill_ripjaws_x_ddr3_1600_cas_7-_-20-231-430-_-Product
same graphics as you chose
same os
great but overkill psu as cheap as the corsair 750tx ($109 after MIR) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207001&Tpk=xfx%20be%20850w
OCZ vertex 2 90gb (enough for browser and favorite game along with OS) ($190) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227601&cm_re=ocz_vertex_2_90gb-_-20-227-601-_-Product

I do have a ODD (optical disk drive right?)...

also do I really need an aftermarket cooler? the coolermaster?

also on the i5 2500k, again, new to the series of chips, they are comming out next weekish? and the price point I take it is from the website as I have not seen them on newegg, etc??

thanks again for any info

asus p67 sabertooth, bit of a weird one as all of the mobo is covered with some black cover except from the inputs (pcie-pci-cpu-ram-sata-usb-24pin-frontinputs-ect)

Whether ya stay with a 1366 build or a 1155 build, I'd get the Asus Sabertooth

ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665

Asus Sabertooth P67
http://www.guru3d.com/article/asus-sabertooth-p67-tuf-review/

These boards are mil spec, have 5 year warrantees and ore overclocking monsters. The "black cover" is a thermal shield designed for improved ruggedability and thermal isolation.

With twin 570's I'd use an 850 watt PSU. If you're gonna OC and plan on adding that 2nd GFX card in the future, The best of the bunch include:

Antec SG-850
Antec CP-850
Corsair HX850
XFX Black Edition 850

I'd get the CP if ya have a compatible antec case, and the XFX Black ($110 on newegg) if ya don't.

SSD - Vertex 2 120Gb 2.5"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227551

The 2.5" mounts directly into a SSD mounting bay if case has one....if not buy the 3.5" model or buy an adapter

Sorry I ment the asus sabertooth p67 the asus sabertooth x58 will not work with the i5 2500K

the cooler master hyper 212+ is for if you're going to overclock more than 10% past stock if you're not interested in overclocking at all get the i5 2500 (not K)

I have the following case if it makes a difference...

Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

going to reuse that as its a BIG case w/side fan.

so basically best to wait till monday when they are released to price out the p67 and i52500k eh?

also is 4gb enough ram? what about 6 or 8gb since the price on that wasnt too bad. and I will be just using one 570 for now, no fancy SLIing at this point.

and will the coolmaster hyper 212 fit on that motherboard? the p67? it looks rather big and the p67 looks tight to me...just wondering...

thanks again..
