HI guys, ive been running my gaming rig for like 3 years now, slowly upgrading it as the years go by, i currently have an XFX gtx280 which i have had for over a year with no problems, however recently i have been booting up my PC but the screen stays on standby "power saving mode".

At first i thought it was the monitor being problematic but i tried other monitors and the same problem occured.
When this happens, i have no signal to the monitor but my comp still boots up, and the windows login sound happens and everything boots up fine, just nothing on the screen.
Therefore im guessing that something is up with my graphics card.

I am using a 750w modular coolermaster PSU, and 4gb of 1066mhz ocz reaper ram (ddr2), a q6600 2.4ghz quad core (not currently OCd as i thought this may contribute to problems).
Drivers and such are up to date. I really dont know what to do.
The only way i fix the problem and get a signal to my monitor is to bash my computer around in anger, unplug DVI cords, replug, take out GPU and clean, unplug ram and clean... But ive got some major coursework in for my course soon and i cant afford to not have a working computer :/
Can anybody help me out?
THanks for reading :)

Can you try the graphics card in another PC so that you can find out whether or not its the graphics card thats causing this issue?
