Hello,
I got a great deal on a 580 and went way overboard for my system (really a waste as my 275 played most everything). Q8300@2.5 ghz, Asus p5n73-am motherboard, Corsair tx650w power supply, 4ram

Now I need to continue the overkill process and upgrade my system to play, well not sure what needs this much power. I play 1080p and games that are 6 months post release.

Please suggest mb/cpu that won't bottleneck the 580 and ability to sli in the future. Budget-$700. Or should I wait for nbt...

6-8 cores won't be any more relevant to gaming in a year than they are now. The 2500k will be all the processor anyone needs for gaming for some time IMO....

How many games support 8 cores? None
How many games support 6 cores? A few

2500K > Bulldozer

+1 what he, and others, have said.

And, if you're playing these games on a single monitor, you won't need a second 580, unless you're going to be playing in 3D. Otherwise, save it for when you decide to go surround (multi-monitor).

Insight is great, thank you. No plan for multi-screen, or 3D. My 2d-3d upconvert from Sammy is nice without cutting graphics. Your right, I don't know what game next year would need 580 sli. Looking forward to LA Noir, dirt3, bad company3.
