You can upgrade to any quad-core LGA775 CPU such as the Q9505 @ 2.83GHz or the Q9650 @ 3.0GHz. But examine your motherboard's specifications.

You may want to look into buying a used CPU. The new-in-box LGA775 CPUs are very costly.

Check craigslist for a new CPU, Ebay may be expensive unless you get lucky.

Hold on to your Q8400 and have it overclock to 3.2ghz easily just fsb change 333 to 400, the rest on auto. But before that what is your motherboard spec? If you wanna upgrade better get a new system preferably the 1155 rather than a cpu upgrade.
