Ok, so this is my new build and iv been having an issue.. I'll begin with the scenario.
I puchased all parts, put comp together and ran it fine. Installed Windows XP and Xp Pro 64bit.. Now when i was having some graphic card issues since one of my graphic cards (running dual) was REALLY old so i went and bought a new one (GeForce 8400 GS) same as my other gpu.
I then installed the new gpu and got them both running great.. I closed the case, accidently pulled a plug, and boom.. my motherboard died. So i RMA'd it to Newegg and have just received a new one.
Ok, now iv gotten everything up and running great.. one problem. My 1st GeForece 8400 wont load. I plugged it in along with the newer one and the pc wont start, it'll just flash all the led's, spit the fans for a second and then just go off. I then plugged in just the older 8400 and the pc started, but no display.. Is my gpu dead or whats going on?
On another note, I did try and use my ollllld gpu that i replaced with the newer 8400 and when its in the pci slot theres no display from either gpus (new or old). So basically my computer wont let me do dual monitors no matter what.. its just not making sense to me.
Motherboard: MSI 870-G45
HDD: 1tb Samsung spinpoint SATA
CPU: AMD Athlon II tri-core
PSU: SIGMA FOCUS SP700B 700W (800 Peak)
8 GB ram
GPU's: 2- GeForce 8400 GS
older GPU: Compaq (no model)
Case Fans: 2 (+2 led's)
1 CD/DVD Burner
do the video cards work when you only insert one into the system?
Well the newer 8400 works, which is the one im using right now with a single monitor setup. But the older 8400 wont work the pc powers up and the fan on the gpu spins and everything but i get no display at all. And when i plug both 8400's in the pc wont even power up
May be faulty 8400 ...
If you are using dual Monitor ..why two seprate GFXs ?
Why dont buy a single mid GFX card with dual display output..
I was thinking the same thing, I just tested everything and it seems only the old 8400 isnt displaying. Ill buy a new one tomorrow. But now can you answer this question, when I turned on my pc with both 8400s in it wouldnt even start, just blink the leds and quickly spin the fans. This led me to think perhaps the psu is bad aswell? Or do you think its strictly a gpu issue?
Also to answer your question, I stay in a small city and no stores sell single dual gpus. I didnt want to order one either seeing as how the newegg rmas take sooo long since I live in Ga and must ship to Ca for a return just incase of an issue.
Ok guys, thanks for the help. It was in fact my gpu had died. Went and got a new one abd now all is well.. Except the fact that every videos audio lags balls. If I play audio by itself theres no issue, and if I play video by itself all is well.. I just cant watch any type of movie without all hell breaking loose
