So GTX 580 was made. It is told that it`s about 20% faster than GTX 480. So does this make GTX 480 not a good card?
P.S. My PC is for four years. Yeah, it`s quite a silly ,,unwriten rule`` in my family. Doesn`t matter how much my PC cost, it`s still for at least four years. I got current one on summer. And... sorry for any english mistakes i made.

Are you telling us you have a gtx 480 ? Cause thats not clear.
If you have one, its your decision whether its a 'good' card.
I'd imagine it is ?
Its like buying a new car.
The minute you drive down the road, its used and worth less.
And within a few months, they make a new model year.

Yeah... But the car will still go at preety same speeds and get you where you need... Destinations remain in the same places. Earth doesn`t move have meter a year. :D  But game requirements increase...

The GTX580 is just an improved GTX480, better temps, lower power usage, 15-20% faster...

The GTX480 is still a very capable card and will play any game today at max settings (except maybe Metro 2033 and Crysis at 1080P+ with loads of AA)

Yeah, i heard that it will play current games on max, but... Borderlands lag like hell especially in DLCs. World of Warcraft lags in Dalaran and some places. But runs on 60 FPS in all smaller zones, dungeons, raids, etc.

Also 15-20 is quite big percentage. I think...

The GTX480 is still a great card performance-wise. I can play Metro 2033, which is currently the most hardware intensive game, with every last detail turned up to maximum. Being able to play the latest games maxed out should be the ultimate test of a video card's performance. With that said, be sure to check out eBay for my card to be up for sale some time in 2011.

That's because (and I DO NOT PLAY WOW ANYMORE, just for you haters :p ) in Dalaran there are a hell of a lot of players in one place. I think everyone gets lag there, it won't be down to your graphics card.

Remember, a lot of the GTX 580's performance advantage is in clocks. If you get a decent aftermarket cooler, you will be able to overclock you card to very similar speeds. It would also be cheaper than selling your GTX 480 and getting a GTX 580.

It might also have something to do with a many year old computers CPU. You need to have the CPU muscle to handle that many players.

WoW is processor intensive anyways - more awesome your proc is more awesome your wow is. Thats why the machines specifically built for WoW have a modest gpu like a 5770 or 6870 and a proc thats oc'd out the wazoo - that and having good internet speeds is crucial too. GPU - not so much

So my i7-860 is worse for my gaming than i thought... I think.

There is another question from me to those who could answer it... Maybe after 1-2 years it would be posible to get a motherboard which would work with my i7-860 and two channel ram, would support X16/X16 SLI and would be for a price i could afford, so i could get a used GTX 480 and get much more power? Because my current ASUS P7P55D-E only supports X16/X4 and that`s only enough for a physics dedicated card. At the moment i think, the only way to be ready for SLI in the future would be to get an X58 motherboard. i7-9xx CPU and three channel ram is a must when you use such a motherboard as far as i know, but that`s is way to expensive. At least for me. (Sorry for any writing mistakes if there are any)

Most p55 sli m/b's are 8x 8x . That will run dual gtx 480's fine.

Evga makes the least expensive sli p55 board. Its a micro board

I use the gigabyte p55 ud4p, which is not made anymore, but the ud4p p55a is

Your cpu is very good for gaming. But the 860 has hyperthreading.
Which is usually always a PLUS, but....
Some games work better when hyperthreading is disabled.
Someone else can comment if WoW is one of them ?

The Gigabyte one, if you ment GA-P55A-UD4 is expensive at the moment my country. Ant prices rarely drop in this country. And Evga... You won`t get Evga in my country at all...

Look at the Biostar T5XE SLI+CFX. It is what I use and I have absolutely no complaints about it, its been a great board on the cheap.

I checked for that motherboard... I think my country doesn`t have this brand either. We mainly have Asus, Gigabyte, Intel and Msi.
