Unlocked multiplier for the K series, making overclocking easier. Most folks here will tell you that anything over the 2500k is a waste though as you will see little advantage in frame rates.

2600K has completely unlocked multipliers, so as long as you put it into a P67 mainboard you can overclock it to 4.2-5.0GHz (or if you're very very lucky, higher) on all cores.

2600 can only be overclocked +400MHz Turbo. The default speed is 3.4GHz, and it can Turbo up to 3.8GHz on one core. Overclocked, it can Turbo up to 4.2GHz on one core.

Yes, the onboard media encoder of the 2600K is TWICE as powerful as that of the 2600.

In other words, if everything else works "perfectly" you could encode video in HALF the time on the 2600K compared to the 2600.

With regard to the OC capability, from the reviews I have read, the 2600k does seem to have a higher OC ceiling (+0.3 Ghz) than the 2500k ... that is more than their stock differences (0.1 Ghz) would imply ..... or perhaps the reviewers aren't putting as much T & E (time and effort) into the non flagship model. :)
