System 2 is only slightly ($15) more expensive then system 1... With the AMD system I can afford a much faster video card, but with the Intel system I get a faster platform overall and it's easy to upgrade video cards later.... although the PSU is also cheaper but I figure with Intel systems lower power consumption I don't need more then 500W (I also have NO plans for SLI/crossfire) I'm leaning towards system 2 right now but I'm wondering what everyone here thinks...

Use: gaming (720p or 1080p monitor)

More about which system builds choose
  1. #2. CPU is better and the 6850 is a better value than the 6870.
  2. look up on sandy bridge and consider if you can jump up there first. Otherwise wait some prices should be dropping in the next few weeks if you cant?!?! #2
  3. get a i5 2500 with a cheap lga 1155 mobo
    much better
  4. The 1156 platform has sunsetted; the 1155 was released today.

    I'd get an ASUS P8P67 w/ Intel Core i5-2500K

    $160 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131681
    $225 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

I'd also get a better case and larger PSU so ya can add a 2nd vid card down the road.
