I currently have a Dell Inspiron 531s, stock with no upgrades. I recently had a power supply issue and now have power supply that does not fit in the case. I am looking to start upgrading the entire system. To start I want to get a bigger case so that all of the components fit. Are all components interchangeable with cases? If I do get a bigger case, will I have to do any other upgrades to any other internal components to make the computer at least run?

What PSU? What's the budget? You can get an ATX case, it should fit, that Dell has a mATX mobo. A cheaper good case is the Rosewill Challenger but there are cheaper ones.

Yeah, budget is moderate as this is going to be a work in progress. Thinking anwhere from 50 - 125 for a case. Am I going to need to have other components replaced immediately to get it to where it is operable?

The Challenger is cheap and good. You acn also get the Antec Three Hundred Illusion, the Cooler Master HAF 912, the LIAN LI Lancool PC-K58W etc.

You don't need anything else unless you have a proprietary front panel connector, how does it look like, it's a block of wires like in the pic or the wires are separate like in the video below?

If they're separate is fine.
