Ready boost use in a class 4 32gig sdhd

Okay I don't know if I'm in the right forum but anywho, I bought 2 Dane-Elec class 4 sdhc 32gig cards. My USB ports are broken, and I've decided to use one for ready boost, is it worth it and capable? Otherwise I just use it to store files on both. Playing Sims 3 all expansions+CC and using Google chrome simultaneously is the most extensive thing I do. I would like to run photo shop also, just haven't bought it yet. My laptop been run through the mill but it's only just over a year old. it is pretty annoying playing the game sometimes and I know my graphics card is not ideal for such things; It's I have for now and I can;t really dish out money getting a technician to install more ram better graphics card etc. (which I highly doubt upgrades are possible anyways.) I don't know how to attach files; I'll post my DXdiag, in a spoiler. Thanx!

Upgrade your RAM would be a wiser investment. I don't see improvement with readyboost or not.

Also your graphics card on the laptop is not upgradeable and it is a very slow one. The CPU is also an old one.

May I ask did you get your laptop last year for a very low price?

Yep, I guess I did, and I already bought the card; can't afford ram. I'm sorry I know your right but this is not an investment issue, more of like, a ready boost question. 32gb is a lot of available memory to use, are you saying that my card is most likely incompatible?

I am not saying the card is incompatible for use in readyboost. I think they should be ok. Class 4 SD card are rates 4MB/s and ready boost require the storage device to have a speed of 2.5MB/s.

I tried that before and hardly see any difference. It only helps if you have very low RAM, like 2GM or less. Also 32GB is excessive for caching. Something like 4GB should be plenty.

Your laptop will only be able to take 4GB or DDR2 RAM and you already have 3GB. DDR2 RAM is old and expensive due to the fact that the supply is drying up. If you are not ready to buy a new laptop, your best option, although not as economical as people using cheaper DDR3 RAM, you should get a bit more RAM to see if that makes multi-task better. This will not make your game run faster.

While your 32GB in the SD card is plenty of space but it is many thousand times slower than RAM so it would help as much as RAM in multi tasking where speed is important.

Otherwise, if you want full improvement in gaming, multi tasking and photoshop, buy a new AMD APU laptop for about $450. Your graphics card and cpu is the weakest when it comes to gaming and photoshop.

Okay, thank you a lot, Il'l just use those sd cards for storage now, and yeah I'm saving up for a new pc altogether anyways, lol I know how much of a piece of junk my laptop is trust me lmao. Are you saying that my laptop is capable for an upgrade of 1gb ddr2 ram; where could I get some reasonably priced($50max)? Even on a laptop, Ram is something I can easily install myself right?

RAM is easily upgradeable. It is recommend that you get a pair of the same RAM to avoid incompatible issue. e.g. you get 2x2GB RAM to replace your 2GB+1GB of RAM.

The only thing you have to check is whether you have 64bit OS installed, or else your computer will not see all 4GB of RAM.

To change the RAM, disconnect power adapter and take the battery out. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Open penal covering the access to the RAM. The RAM is clipped in place by metal holder on both edge. Simply move the metal away from the edge and the RAM will pop up. Just slot the RAM in and push back and it will pop back in.

Search for a youtube video for instruction if you really don't know.

You can get 2x2GB DDR2 sodimm for $50. Can you download CPU-Z to make sure you have DDR2 RAM before buying? Just to be sure.

CPU-Z:

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Report which DDR type and the DRAM frequency. It is on the memory tab of the CPU-Z program.

Sorry if it is too much to ask, how about the chipset?

And the southbridge is ok for a SATA II SSD upgrade. Just saying it to let you know it is an option. But I don't think you will want to go to that path.
